A scenic sanctuary of forests, flamingos, and famous tree-climbing lions at the edge of the Rift Valley.
The Lake Manyara National Park lies at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and offers a lush, compact safari experience. Despite its small size, it is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife — from herds of elephants to the famous tree-climbing lions. The shimmering alkaline lake attracts thousands of flamingos and other bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
The park’s landscape ranges from dense groundwater forests to open plains and hot springs, creating a striking diversity within a single day’s game drive.
Lake Manyara enjoys a moderate climate year-round, with warm days and mild nights. The Dry Season (June–October) is ideal for spotting wildlife around the shrinking lake, while the Wet Season (November–May) transforms the park into a lush green oasis with stunning birdlife.
The best time to visit is from June to October for optimal wildlife viewing and clear skies. However, bird enthusiasts will enjoy visiting during the wet season (November–May) when migratory birds arrive and the lake teems with flamingos.
