A scenic gem of northern Tanzania, home to Mount Meru, lush forests, and tranquil crater lakes.
Arusha National Park is a small but incredibly diverse park located just outside the city of Arusha. It is known for its striking scenery, from the Ngurdoto Crater and Momella Lakes to the towering slopes of Mount Meru. Though it doesn’t host the Big Five, Arusha National Park offers exceptional opportunities for walking safaris, canoeing, and birdwatching.
The park’s varied landscapes provide habitats for giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, waterbucks, and an abundance of bird species, including flamingos and turacos. It’s the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s natural beauty, especially for visitors beginning or ending their safari in Arusha.
Arusha National Park enjoys a pleasant, mild climate year-round due to its high altitude. The park experiences a dry season (June–October) and a wet season (November–May), when the landscape becomes lush and vibrant, ideal for photography and birdwatching.
The best time to visit is during the dry season (June to October), when roads are easier to access and wildlife is concentrated near water sources. For lush scenery and spectacular birdlife, the wet season (November–May) is equally rewarding.
